Did Adam die? We’ll, he didn’t fall over and breathe his last breath. His body didn’t cease walking around. The serpent told Eve and Adam, “You will not surely die.” (Gen. 3:4)

So then what is death? Let me pose my definition of death.

 Separation.

When we say, “Grandma died in her sleep last night.”, we know we won’t see her in the kitchen cooking breakfast. The true person of Grandma has left her body, they were separated. Since we humans can only be on earth in a body, her person has stepped into Eternity.

So, who was right? The serpent saying, “You will not surely die.”or God who gave the boundary not to eat the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden, or you will surely die. (Gen. 2:17).

Remember death is separation. When God breathed on Adam (Gen.2:7), Adam’s spirit was filled with God’s presence. Thus, separation happened as a result of disobedience. That is death. Yes, Adam died when he disobeyed God and ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.

Adam’s sin required death to atone so God slew animals and gave Adam and Eve the skins for clothing.

Separation happened between God and His masterpiece Man.

 But God!

 Had a plan.

 Jesus.

When we are born again as Jesus teaches Nicodemus in John 3, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 1:13) Therefore, we return to the original condition as God designed.

Now we are IN CHRIST and He is in us. This is the mystery that Paul speaks of throughout his letters to the churches. We are dead to sin. Sin has no hold on us except what we allow. Read Romans chapter 6.

As you go through the “in Christ” scriptures with the October Scripture Calendar, ask God for a deeper realization of being in Him.

 We are redeemed.

 Returned to Him.

Now, there is no condemnation for those who walk in the spirit (Romans 8:1-2). The November calendar will dive into more scriptures about walking in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Now, we have choices on how to live.  We have been transferred from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light. Sin no longer has control over us, we are set free (separated) from Sin. We need to renew our minds with the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2) so that we won’t live as the world does but we will live for God.

We have always had a choice. May you choose wisely.
